Elisa Yi Mei Chan obtained her Master of Music Degree in piano performance from Indiana University, Jacobs School of Music. During which she studied with Emile Naoumoff and Edward Auer. She was also a recipient of the Irving and Leno Lo Scholarship, the Dean’s Scholarship, and the chamber music scholarship. She received her Bachelor of Music (Honors) Degree at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts under the tutelage of Gabriel Kwok, with Great Eagle Scholarship, Helena May Scholarship, and Parsons Music Foundation Scholarship. She recently completed the Graduate Certificate program in University of Southern California, Thornton School of Music, under the guidance of Kevin Fitz-Gerald. She was awarded the Most Outstanding Graduate in the Keyboard Collaborative Arts Department and also the Gwendolyn Koldofsky Scholarship.
Elisa made her concerto debut at the age of 11, with the Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra. She has also played in many major festivals around the world, including Mozarteum Academy in Austria, International Institute for Young Musicians in the United States, and the Beijing International Music Festival & Academy in China, during which she learnt from many well-known musicians, including Barry Snyder, Alexander Braginsky, Yoshikazu Nagai and Jack Winerock. She is also a prizewinner of many national and international competitions, including 1st prize at the 69th Steinway & Sons International Youth Piano Competition and the China Regional Competition as well as the First Toyoma Asain Youth Music Competition.
Elisa is also active in the Baroque music and collaborative piano fields. She took harpsichord as her minor instrument in her Masters Degree, under the tutelage of Elisabeth Wright. She has also worked with numerous renowned musicians, including Grigory Kalinovsky, Joseph Swensen, Martin Chalifour, Elizabeth Hynes, and Rod Gilfry, Simin Ganatra, and Lee Phillips.
Elisa was one of the faculty members at the Indiana University Young Pianist Program and held the position as an accompanist of the Indiana University Ballet Department.
